Home & Family is an independent, Christchurch based incorporated society that works with children, adults and families facing barriers to positive outcomes in their lives. Home & Family provide two streams of service: a counselling service and a residential parenting programme. Initially drawn to us due to our strong base of experience in the non for profit sector, they have continued with us for over 13 years now as a valued client.
The brief was simple and straightforward. Home and Family needed a brand new website that reflected their digital identity, was easy to maintain and update by way of a CMS but most importantly allowed them to collect donations online. We have been fortunate enough to have worked alongside this amazing charity since 2003. As with many organisations, even though leadership positions have changed throughout the years at Home and Family, here at Meta we have continued to foster a strong relationship which puts us in a position to produce great results online.
We developed custom forms to receive donations online and created a custom WordPress theme for easy maintenance and content editing. Donating online was of huge importance, moving this from a manual process that involved posting out forms and collating data to an easy online transaction.
Previously Home and Family did not have a means to fundraise online. They saw this as a huge opportunity and wanted to remove the complexity of their current manual paper process of donating.
We developed two custom donation forms, one to support their work and their mission and a separate campaign to support their project, Our House, a new building for Home and Family in downtown Christchurch.
Of huge importance was to to Home and Family was the reflection of their branding to visually represent their values and culture. We worked alongside another agency to refresh their brand and ensure that the designs were not lost in the website build.
They also wanted to ensure that the site build was responsive and included a mobile version. This was an important consideration to be not only digitally current but a nod to the fact that some, who would be using their services, may only access the website via their mobile phone as their only internet capable device.
WordPress was the chosen platform for the new Home and Family website build. Previously the team at Home and Family had been unable to control content or make changes without a web developer. We built custom content types within the WordPress Admin to make the process of updating and creating new pages and content seamless. We also added a newsfeed by way of a blogging engine so that not could news, events and updates be easily followed and read but easily created and updated by a member of staff.
Home and Family are one of a number of Not for Profit organisations we have a long running relationships with. If you are a NFP and want to work with a team who empathises and understands you then please get in touch.
